Hello and welcome to the St Luke’s CARES' website.
St Luke's Community and Regeneration Enterprise is a Community Charity based in Beeston which works predominantly with young people across South Leeds. The organisation is run by a combination of full-time, part-time and voluntary staff.
There are a range of activities provided through Dance Groups and Majorettes, Sports Development, the Urban Bar, Youth Bus and Phocus. We also have HITBase, an IT Adult Education centre which runs out of a small computer suite in St Luke’s Church.
As well as running our own activities, St Luke's CARES also works closely with other community organisations, and over the last five years we have proved that positive activities can really make a difference to the lives of young people, giving them focus, ambition, a sense of achievement, and a big increase in confidence which will stand them in good stead for the challenges that lie ahead.
Living standards in Beeston Hill and Holbeck are generally poor. Houses are mainly terraced and in many cases in a state of disrepair with a large number of empty vandalized houses unfit for human habitation; the area is in the bottom 5% of all wards in the country. It is for the many people that live against this backdrop that St Luke’s CARES will continue do its work.
