Youth Forum
St. Luke’s CARES Youth Forum has been running successfully for seven years and works mainly with young people from the Beeston and Holbeck areas.
As one of longest standing young people’s forums in Leeds, we have been asked for some of our young people to participate in other forums around the city such as the Terence Huggins Trust and young peoples’ panels to discuss such things as sexual health and relationships and how they affect young people today. These young people were chosen from a city-wide selection process, so we were very pleased with their success.
The Youth Forum meets once a week to discuss various topics such as health, education, bullying, self-harm, well-being, drug awareness and relationships. Our aim is to provide suitable training for our young people to be positive role models, when they become peer mentors.
We also have regular social events, trips to the cinema, and meals out as well as residential trips to various outdoor pursuit activity centres around the country. These are all great for improving team-building skills, and promoting self-esteem.
